- Understand and follow specific verbal and written instructions.
- Observe safety rules. Work safely under all types of conditions such as confined spaces, considerable heights, outdoors in inclement weather, and in radiological areas.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as dictated by the job.
- Waste receipt and offloading activities for disposal of low-level radioactive waste containing hazardous substances. Includes use of electronic tablets to track shipments; loosening bungee cords, tarps, and tailgates; and directing truck drivers.
- Water management, including loading leachate tankers from an elevated platform, pumping landfill water, moving pumps and hoses, operating valves and controls, accurately reading gauges, recording data, and completing forms.
- Heavy manual work, including manual excavation, moving heavy furniture, and loading and unloading materials.
- Push, pull, lift, and carry 30 pounds.
- Perform considerable and repetitive bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and walking.
- Grounds maintenance, including operating mowers, tractors, string trimmers, chainsaws, polesaws, and related tools for mowing, trimming, brush cutting, felling small trees, clearing, pruning, fertilizing, and seeding.
- Use chemicals such as fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, and cleaning solutions.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, forklifts, small fuel truck, and similar equipment.
- Work at elevated heights.
- Spotting and flagging.
- Housekeeping and janitorial-type work.
- Clean gutters, buildings, walkways, and work areas.
- Distribute de-icing materials and shovel snow
- Escort personnel that do not have a Q-clearance.
- Assist in work planning, perform work in accordance with work control requirements, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Perform work in related trades (e.g., carpentry) if requested.
- Occasionally work overtime performing these tasks.

Job-Related Qualifications Required
- High School Graduate/GED
- Must be able to perform advanced trade skills and observe all safety rules and regulations
- Must pass alcohol/drug screen, physical exam and Respirator Fit Test
- Must have experience in related fields that include carpenter support functions related to large scale industrial maintenance.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment
- Ability to understand environmental, safety, and health requirements applicable to work at a DOE facility
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and complete within allotted time
- Good communication skills, and be physically able to do considerable walking, lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, carrying, etc.
- Ability to wear any and all PPE as required and be fitted and wear respirators as necessary to perform job functions
- Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license
- Must pass site required training
- ‘Q’ Clearance is PREFERRED but must have the ability to obtain a clearance
