The Department of Human Services (DHS), Wernersville State Hospital is seeking a motivated Equipment Operator A to join our team. Equipment Operator A, you will operate equipment and trucks with a gross vehicle weight up to 32,000 pounds as well as transport consumers, staff, and materials at the Wernersville State Hospital. You will use vans, buses, and single-chassis trucks both on and off hospital grounds. You will also perform construction work, maintenance work, and equipment safety checks. This role requires completing daily assignments and the ability to determine equipment operating techniques and efficient work methods necessary to obtain results. In addition, you will sanitize vehicles weekly, assist automotive mechanics making major equipment repairs, and demonstrate equipment operation to other employees.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• You will work every 3rd or 4th weekend.
• Overtime as needed and subject to emergency call-in

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more;or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position requires you to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within the probationary period.
