Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Grounds/Maintenance Technician to upkeep the plant site and continuously improve its appearance.

You will perform mowing, grounds maintenance, road cleaning, landscaping, trash collection, snow removal, spill response, and basic equipment maintenance to support operations. This role is typically M-F daylight and outdoors in all weather; you must be safety conscious, able to obtain operator certifications for mobile equipment, and complete DOT, HAZWOPER

Qualifications

• Safety-focused and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to obtain operator certifications for mobile equipment.
• Must complete DOT, HAZWOPER and RCRA training for spill response.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Mowing and grounds maintenance to keep the site clean and presentable.
• Road cleaning and watering to preserve access and safety.
• Grounds crew equipment maintenance and basic repairs.
• Trash collection, landscaping, and snow/ice removal.
• Spill response and general site improvements.
• Normally scheduled Monday–Friday daylight; must respond to hazardous weather conditions during nights/weekends.

Required

• Focus on site safety with specific attention to hazardous site conditions & traffic concerns


• Must become certified to operate a variety of mobile equipment


• Must complete annual DOT, HAZWOPER and RCRA training with environmental for spill response


• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including hours of snow removal

Preferred

• Heavy equipment experience


• Good mechanical skills


• Landscaping experience


• Small engine repair, light equipment maintenance
