Job summary

Clean-Tech Company in Spartanburg, SC is hiring Groundskeepers to maintain landscapes and outdoor spaces. This role requires operating mowers, trimming, pruning, and planting with attention to detail and safety.

You will prepare trucks, load equipment, and ensure tools are well maintained while following company standards. The position is first shift, Monday–Friday with some weekends required, and requires a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in performing grounds maintenance.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Mathematical skills: basic arithmetic, rates, ratios, percent.

Responsibilities

• Mow turf using various mowers; trim edges and sweep leaves.
• Prepare trucks and equipment; load gear and secure it for transport.
• Maintain and repair tools and equipment used on site.
• Prune trees and shrubs; plant material with correct spacing.
• Keep grounds clean; monitor for hazards and safety compliance.
• Follow safety training; maintain daily progress logs.

Groundskeepers are responsible for efficiently producing quality landscape service that meets or exceeds the standards of clients and management. Groundskeepers typically perform a variety of tasks which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and raking.

Essential Functions : Prepare Trucks for The Day: Load gas cans, mowers and other equipment onto Company trucks/trailers: Secure all equipment

Mow turf using various mowers; Line trimming and edging Sweeping and blowing leaves and clippings Prune shrubs and trees as needed and clear debris

Clean site and watch for trash, limbs, and rocks.

Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters and pruning saws

Shovel snow from walks, driveways and parking lots and spread salt in those areas

Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, removing thatch, trimming, edging around flower beds, walks

Prune and trim trees, shrubs and hedges using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge/brush trimmers, axes, shears, pruners or chain saws.

Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features

Prep soil uniformly for flower or groundcover installation, cultivating beds; mulch application; bed preparation using soil amendments; core aeration

Pruning, planting, removal or replacement of shrubs, plants, and flowers; pruning of trees and replacement of trees that are planted as a replacement due to the removal of diseased or damaged trees, or trees that constitute a hazard; non-substantive replacement of sod

Plant material properly considering depth, size, placement, and spacing

Apply mulch appropriately for type of material

Water material correctly. Perform Maintenance on Equipment

Wash equipment and truck Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures such as, but not limited to, fences, benches, and minor outbuilding maintenance using hand and power tools

Ability to operate motor vehicles, lift/move equipment, materials, supplies and tools; wear protective clothing as required by client and company.

Keep a daily log to notate issues and progress during the year.

Keep all logs up to date. Perform safety training.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

1 years of experience in performing grounds maintenance.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to conduct detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have a valid state Driver's License.
