Brooke Grove Foundation Inc. is seeking a Grounds and Landscaping Worker to support ground upkeep and landscape operations at the Brooke Grove Retirement Village campus in Olney, MD.

You will assist with lawn care, planting, and equipment maintenance under supervision, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Qualified candidates typically hold an AA or equivalent or have 6 months to 1 year of related experience, with the ability to read safety rules and perform basic arithmetic.

Qualifications

• AA or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to perform arithmetic operations in various units of measure.

Responsabilités

• Assists with grounds upkeep, landscape operations, and repair of equipment under the grounds supervisor.
• Prepares and grades terrain, applies fertilizers, seeds and sods lawns, and transplant shrubs and plants.
• Plants and repairs lawns using recommended seed mixtures and fertilizers for soil type and location.
• Locates, plants, and cultivates shrubs, trees, and flowers for landscape effect.
• Mows and trims lawns, trims shrubs, and cleans grounds.
• Sprays trees and shrubs and applies nutrients to lawn and trees; digs trenches and installs drain tiles.
• Ensures mowing and landscape equipment are in safe working order and makes repairs as needed.

Grounds and Landscaping Worker

Full Time | Days

Pay: Up to $19.50/hour

Responsibilities of a Grounds and Landscaping Worker:

• Assists with maintaining grounds upkeep, landscape operations, and repair of equipment under the direction of grounds supervisor.
• Participates in preparing and grading terrain, applying fertilizers, seeding and sodding lawns, and transplanting shrubs and plants
• Plants new and repairs established lawns, using seed mixtures and fertilizers recommended for soil type and lawn location.
• Locates, plants, and cultivates shrubs, trees, and flowers recommended for landscape effect.
• Mows and trims lawns. Trims shrubs and cultivate gardens. Cleans grounds.
• Sprays trees and shrubs, and applies supplemental liquid and dry nutrients to lawn and trees. Digs trenches and installs drain tiles.
• Ensures that mowing and landscaping equipment and apparatus is in safe working order. Make repairs to mowing and landscaping equipment and apparatus as necessary.

Requirements of a Grounds and Landscaping Worker:

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight, volume, and measurement.
