Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Tree Care Groundperson to work on-site in Dulles, VA. You will support climbers and crews in pruning and removing trees, installing support systems, and handling equipment.

The role offers an outdoor office with a focus on safety and client service, and is ideal for individuals passionate about greenspace stewardship. Job duties include assisting crew members, performing pruning/removal tasks, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and physical stamina are essential.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Must complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Licenses or certifications such as ISA/TCIA are preferred where required by state law.

• Perform pruning, thinning, and removal work safely and skillfully.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.

Pay $20.-$24 hr depending on experience

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Tree Care Ground person to our passionate team of tree care professionals. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day!

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
