Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. is seeking a Groundman to join our field team in Alabama. This entry-level role supports construction, repair and maintenance of underground electrical distribution systems, reporting to the Foreman, and working outdoors in varied conditions.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license (CDL within 60 days), be willing to travel, lift up to 50 lbs, and work overtime or on-call during outages or emergencies. Safety and PPE are emphasized in daily duties.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment to include backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Will perform rigorous physical labor.
