Job summary

Pike Corporation in Tuscaloosa, AL is seeking a Groundman to join our team building, repairing and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. You will report to the Foreman and support field crews in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

This entry-level role emphasizes safety, physical stamina and willingness to travel for out-of-state outages. Candidates must be able to obtain a CDL within 60 days and perform demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 pounds.
• Work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside normal hours, including weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Help install and repair underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment (backhoes, trenchers, excavators, pulling equipment).
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on-call rotation.
• Follow safety protocols including PPE use and insulation PPE precautions.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understand when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
