Job summary

Centuri Group is seeking a Groundman to support crew in electric line construction and safety procedures.

You will learn materials, assist with stocking trucks, and help fellow crew members while pursuing Lineman skills. A CDL is preferred or you must obtain a CDL permit within 60 days of hire. The 8 days on/6 days off hitch provides rotation and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of electric services is helpful.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class A license preferred; must acquire CDL permit within 60 days.
• Completion of an accredited apprentice program is preferred.
• Ability and desire to learn the necessary skills of a Lineman.
• Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances.
• Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the crew in completion of duties.
• Learn basic materials and equipment used in line construction.
• Learn safety procedures and work area protection.
• Maintain cleanliness of the job site and equipment.
• Complete required company training, including safety training.
• Perform administrative duties as required.
• Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership.

Work Environment

• Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
• All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
• Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
• Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
• Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Legal Stuff

• Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
• Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
• Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required
• Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
