Job summary

Penn Line Tree Service is seeking a Groundhand to support line clearance crews across multiple states. The role involves clearing trees and branches, assisting with equipment, and helping keep work sites safe and efficient.

The candidate must have a valid driver's license; CDL preferred. Travel is required, with schedules ranging 4-day to 10-hour shifts and potential overtime. Drug-free workplace and equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews in clearing trees and branches interfering with lines.
• Hoist tools and equipment to crew members and position ladders.
• Saw, cut, and mulch brush; load debris onto trucks using winch.
• Flag traffic when needed and communicate via two-way radio.
• Travel to multiple states as job demands require.

Job description

Job Description: A Groundhand's primary responsibility is to assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with communication lines and electric power lines. Other duties include hoisting tools and equipment to crew members and lowering branches with rope or block and tackle; positioning and steadying ladders; sawing and cutting up branches; loading debris, tree trunks and limbs onto trucks (using winch and chipping brush with chipper); carrying chainsaws; carrying gas cans and oil jugs; cutting, dragging, and mulching brush. May also flag traffic utilizing stop/slow paddle and two-way radio. A Valid Driver's License and/or CDL License is preferred.

Work Schedule: 4 -10 HR days, either; Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday with periods of mandatory overtime. Employees are also required to work emergency storm duty as need arises.

Rate of Pay: Varies depending upon Skills and Experience.

Work Area: Travel required throughout various states including PA, MD, OH, VA, & WV Candidates must be flexible to travel when called upon since work locations are subject to change upon short notice based on contract demands.
