Job summary

Penn Line Tree Service, Inc. is seeking a Groundhand to support crews clearing trees and debris along power and communications lines. You will hoist tools, position ladders, and assist with loading trunks for transport.

The role requires physical outdoor work, travel across multiple states, and potential overtime or storm duty. CDL/license and teamwork are important, with a focus on safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews in clearing trees and branches near power and communication lines.
• Hoist tools/equipment to crew members.
• Lower branches with rope or block and tackle.
• Position and steady ladders for safe access.
• Saw and cut branches as needed.
• Load debris and trunks onto trucks; chip brush as applicable.
• Carry chainsaws, gas cans, and oil jugs.
• Move and drag brush and limbs, including mulching where applicable.
• Flag traffic using stop/slow paddle and two-way radio.

Job description

Job Description: A Groundhand's primary responsibility is to assist crews in clearing trees and branches that interfere with communication lines and electric power lines. Other duties include hoisting tools and equipment to crew members and lowering branches with rope or block and tackle; positioning and steadying ladders; sawing and cutting up branches; loading debris, tree trunks and limbs onto trucks (using winch and chipping brush with chipper); carrying chainsaws; carrying gas cans and oil jugs; cutting, dragging, and mulching brush. May also flag traffic utilizing stop/slow paddle and two-way radio. A Valid Driver's License and/or CDL License is preferred.

Work Schedule: 4 -10 HR days, either; Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday with periods of mandatory overtime. Employees are also required to work emergency storm duty as need arises.

Rate of Pay: Varies depending upon Skills and Experience.

Work Area: Travel required throughout various states including PA, MD, OH, VA, & WV Candidates must be flexible to travel when called upon since work locations are subject to change upon short notice based on contract demands.
