Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Mission Software Engineer to own Ground Segment Services, build reliable telemetry ingestion, and deliver operator-grade UI tools for mission control.

You will work on CI/CD pipelines, real-time data acquisition, and simulation and test automation, collaborating across avionics, RF/ground, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent safety-critical software experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Strong Python development and language fundamentals.
• Good systems basics: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability.
• Experience building real-time data acquisition, scaling, and distribution services.
• Hands-on with CI/CD, dependency/build systems, and infrastructure-as-code.
• End-to-end observability: logging, metrics, tracing.
• Docker/Kubernetes; release management and phased rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Own Ground Segment Services: telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding.
• Mission Control Interfaces: operator-grade UIs and dashboards.
• Simulation and Test Automation: flight-software simulations and tests.
• Build the Mission Platform: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and tooling.
• Deployments Across Environments: safe rollout and air-gapped deployment strategies.
