Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Mission Software Engineer to own ground segment services and mission control interfaces. You will build telemetry ingestion, distribution systems, and real-time operations tooling, collaborating with avionics and mission operations teams to enable robust spacecraft operations.

The role requires strong Python skills, experience with safety-critical software, and hands-on CI/CD and observability practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in safety critical software for spacecraft or similar systems.
• Expertise with Python development and solid language concepts.
• Strong fundamentals: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability.
• Hands-on with CI/CD, dependency/build systems, and infrastructure as code.
• End-to-end observability: logging, metrics, tracing; Docker/Kubernetes exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own Ground Segment Services: develop high‑reliability telemetry ingestion, distribution, and commanding.
• Create Mission Control UIs and dashboards to optimize operations.
• Build tools for flight‑software simulations, device emulators, and automated tests.
• Design and productionize software for mission and ground teams with CI/CD and observability.
• Develop deployment patterns for lab benches, test stands, and mission networks.
