Job summary

Aegis Aerospace Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer Ground Systems to support the DHSTO 2 contract onsite at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This role develops payload testing software, ground-support software, and operational ground systems used to communicate with satellites.

The engineer collaborates with software and C&DH engineers, participates in reviews, and helps improve software processes while ensuring security and DoD requirements are met. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline with 5-10 years of software development experience.
• Experience in Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with Python (Flask) or JavaScript (React or Vue).
• Ability to work with limited initial requirements and independently develop solutions.
• Experience in an Agile software-development environment.
• Experience executing software projects from requirements to completion.
• Proficient with Git and GitLab or similar tools.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration.
• Motivated self-starter with initiative and travel willingness.
• U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain Top-Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop software in accordance with established processes.
• Create and maintain clear code and documentation.
• Analyze and document software requirements with project teams.
• Develop architectures meeting project and IT/IS needs.
• Contribute to improving software processes and tools.
• Participate in peer code reviews and provide feedback.
• Support design reviews: Kickoff, PDR, CDR, MRR.
• Assist with software deployment, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Support applications for payload testing and ground systems.
• Coordinate with engineers, operations, and customers across projects.
• Attend regular team meetings and provide status updates.
