Job Description Summary: Responsible for working with Admissions Counselors and Admissions Representatives to monitor assigned students’ academic progress and use reports/indicators to identify and resolve potential issues which prevent the student from attaining a college degree.

While this is a remote role, we are looking for someone locally who lives in the greater Phoenix, AZ area.

We are looking for a motivated Student Services Counselor to work directly with our current and prospective grounds students to advise them on degree program requirements, course selection, and finance counseling. Starting salary is $43,000 per year, with an earning potential of $70,000 after several successful years of service.

Grand Canyon Education offers a generous benefits package, including 100% tuition-free education for employees through the Master's degree program level and 75% coverage at the Doctorate degree program level. In addition, an employee's spouse, children, and dependents are also offered generous tuition benefits.

New hire training will encompass three full weeks of training. One week will be held in-person at our Phoenix, AZ campus, and the following two weeks will be held virtually via Zoom. This position is remote supporting ground students.

As a Student Services Counselor, a typical week might include the following:

  • Strategy and execution: Counseling students regarding University policy, payment options, and ensuring progress throughout their program. Responsible for financial clearance, including funding strategies and reapplication for financial aid. Work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partner and influencer: Providing exceptional counseling to prospective students via various mediums, promoting student success and institutional growth.
  • Heart and Hustle: Acting as a student advocate, ensuring academic compliance matters are resolved before course start, and using intervention strategies as needed to keep students on track.

The role might be right for you if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree and no delinquent or defaulted federal student loans.
  • Outstanding customer service, organization, and time management skills.
  • Clear communication skills and professionalism.
