Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a Ground CCT Medic to provide safe, timely ground transport with basic and critical care life support. The role emphasizes advanced monitoring, airway management, and rapid response in pre-hospital and hospital settings.

Qualified candidates will have NC EMT-Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic credentials within 12–24 months, with additional certifications in ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NC EMT-Paramedic certification or National Equivalent; ability to obtain NC Paramedic within 30 days of hire.
• National Registry Paramedic preferred but required within 12 months; required within 2 years for this position.
• ACLS, PALS, BLS, trauma ITLS/PHTLS/TNCC certifications; professional certifications (e.g., CCEMT-P, FPC, CCP-C) within 18 months.
• Valid NC Driver's License or equivalent required. States NC, VA, SC and TN are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient condition during ground transport to provide optimal stabilization with critical care expertise.
• Monitor communications equipment and coordinate with dispatch, medical staff, family, and stakeholders.
• Document patient status, care delivery, and response per unit procedures and protocols.
• Obtain direction from physicians and follow UNC Hospitals Critical Care Transport Medical Direction protocols.
• Monitor patient during transport to ensure stabilization.
• Operate medical and mechanical equipment in pre-hospital, hospital, and aviation environments; restock supplies as needed.
• Operate ventilators and monitors with invasive hemodynamic capabilities; ensure equipment is functional.
• Obtain guidance for advanced care; deliver emergency and critical care including rapid sequence induction and intubation as per protocols.
• Participate in plan of care for critical patients and manage meds to control BP, HR, arrhythmias, and sedation.
