Job summary

Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah is seeking a Groomer Level 3 in Mountain Operations to produce a quality skiable surface, operate snowcats, and manage snowmaking. This non-supervisory role reports to the Shift Supervisor, Slopes Maintenance Manager, and Director of Mnt Ops.

The ideal candidate has 5 consecutive seasons of snowcat experience and Level 1–2 certifications, with the ability to lead Level 1/2 operators when needed. Strong safety awareness and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Meets requirements of Level 1 and Level 2
• Has a minimum of 5 consecutive seasons of snowcat operating experience.
• Is proficient in Winch Cat operation.
• Is proficient in operations of a loader, tele handler, and excavator.
• Attention to detail.
• Safety consciousness is required.
• Spatial awareness.
• Hydraulic Equipment Experience.
• Equipment Inspection.
• Equipment Care.
• Ability to climb into Machinery.
• Has the ability to lift 50lbs.
• Has the ability to follow direction.
• Dress appropriately for winter.
• Has the ability to ski/ride groomed slopes (in order for quality control).
• Ability to work well with others.
• Must have sufficient transportation (4wd, Awd, and appropriate tires) and be willing to drive to work in inclement weather.
• Strong understanding of ski resort operations.
• Follow resort policies and procedures as described in the Staff Handbook.
• Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company's standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of Skier Responsibility Code and Solitude Mountain Resort's Code of Conduct
• Ability to perform essential job functions in various types of terrain and weather.

Responsibilities

• Work as a snowmaker preseason, starting as early as mid-October, operating snow guns, hydrants, hoses, and pumps in cold, wet conditions including night work.
• Know pumphouse operations and perform vehicle and equipment inspections and servicing records
• Safely operate equipment trained to operate and follow training instructions.
• Lead, train, and support Level 1–2 operators as needed.
• Maintain equipment and facilities cleanliness and professional conduct.
• Provide high-quality grooming and slope maintenance work to ensure ski conditions.
• Lead projects to timely completion and report problems quickly.
• Assist mechanics or coworkers with repairs and equipment changes.
