Job summary

Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, seeks experienced Snow Groomers to keep the resort’s slopes pristine and safe. You’ll operate grooming equipment, follow policy, and support a dynamic mountain team in a remote, high‑season environment.

The role requires at least 2 years of grooming experience, basic mechanical skills, and good manual dexterity; physical stamina is a must for long shifts, cold weather, and heavy equipment.

• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills for snow grooming machinery.
• Manual dexterity to use all tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate snow/grooming equipment to maintain the appearance and quality of the resort's slopes.
• Follow Alyeska Resort policies and procedures and communicate with supervisors.
• Assist grooming team with standard operating procedures and safety.
• Attend daily crew briefings and pay attention to safety concerns and instructions.
• Maintain knowledge of mountain terrain and coordinate grooming activities as needed.
• Conduct pre/post operational inspections on grooming equipment and report issues.
• Remove and install operating implements and assist with repairs as needed.
• Complete grooming logs and documentation as required.
• Perform advanced grooming operations for special projects and events.
• Communicate clearly via 2-way radio and report issues promptly.

We’re looking for Snow Grooming professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska.

What You’ll Do

As a Snow Groomer , you play a vital role in ensuring the safety, quality, and appearance of the resort’s snow surfaces.Groomers work under supervision and follow Alyeska Resort policies and procedures.This ideal candidate for this position is a safety minded individual responsible for using their technical skills to create and maintain a consistent snow surface for Alyeska Resort guests through the operation of the resort’s grooming equipment.

• Arrive at work on time, rested, and ready for your shift.
• Operate snow/slope grooming equipment to maintain the appearance and quality of the resort’s ski slopes and trails to the highest level possible.
• Communicate with supervisors and other team members to ensure the quality and safety of groomed areas.
• Assist groomer I and II with standard operating procedures and protocol.
• Attend/conduct daily crew briefings; paying close attention to safety concerns, details, and instructions.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of the mountain terrain and adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Coordinate grooming activities on the hill with other mountain operation departments as necessary.
• Conduct and document pre and post operational inspections on grooming equipment and communicate issues with Vehicle Maintenance personnel to ensure proper equipment maintenance.
• Removal and installation of operating implements (tillers, blades) and assist with equipment repairs as needed.
• Complete required documentation such as grooming logs as needed.
• Perform advanced grooming operations around resort infrastructure including special projects, winch operations, and event preparation.
• Communicate clearly and effectively via 2-way radio.
• Identify and contain fuel and oil leaks in accordance with company policy.
• Report any property loss incidents and/or unusual operation immediately to the Assistant Mountain Terrain Manager.

What to Expect

• Be on alert and at times, on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, & holidays.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment.
• Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort and special events.
• Physical demands: Ability to lift up-to 60 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time in a dynamic mountain environment
• Work Environment: This role occasionally involves extended hours, nights, and weekends to accommodate peak business periods. This position involves working outdoors in challenging weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, and high winds.
