Job summary

Albertsons' Northern California Market in Monterey County seeks a Store Director to lead day-to-day store operations, staffing, training, and compliance.

You will set sales goals, forecast labor, coach staff, manage promotions and product presentation, and ensure safety, cash handling, and customer service excellence. This role demands strong leadership and strategic planning in a grocery retail setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; College degree preferred.
• Three years Store Manager experience in a multi-department operation or five+ years retail/managerial experience in an Assistant Manager role.
• Retail grocery experience required.
• Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills; proficient in math.
• Demonstrated customer service and supervisory skills; strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Computer literate; able to make quality decisions under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full operation of the retail grocery store, including performance, cash control, inventory, security, customer service and staff management.
• Forecast, analyze, and act to improve weekly/daily sales and meet goals.
• Communicate goals, department performance, and opportunities with staff to drive results.
• Forecast, schedule, and monitor labor within wage budgets; address cost control issues.
• Develop and direct strategies to improve product placement and promotions; ensure proper displays and in-stock conditions.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Handle customer and employee complaints; make decisions in the best interest of customer and business.
• Hire, train, and manage store employees; finalize hiring decisions and probationary evaluations.
• Maintain professional relationships with union officials where applicable.
