Job summary

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions.
• Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Adhere to health and civil code regulations.
• Assist with building displays and observe shift hours.
• Assist with stocking and breaking down loads.
• Keep refrigerated coolers and shelves fully stocked and conditioned.
• Follow merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor and safety rules.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity and notify management.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
