Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a customer-focused associate to deliver outstanding service in the department and help achieve store goals. You will assist customers with product questions, maintain a clean, safe environment, and support the department manager in meeting sales and quality standards.

Responsibilities include knowledge of products, suggesting items, ensuring freshness and proper temperatures, and following safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Any retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality, review sell by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures and logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and report safety risks or illegal activity.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
