Job summary

Kroger in Columbia Falls, MT is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to support the Grocery Department’s planning, organization and operations. You will supervise associates, assist with staffing, training and daily customer service, and help drive store sales and profits safely and ethically.

Focus on effective communication, merchandising, scheduling, inventory control and adherence to policies while promoting company initiatives and maintaining a high standard of department appearance.

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Understanding of department operations including staffing, merchandising, inventory and scheduling.
• Knowledge of employment practices and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing, and training associates to deliver prompt, courteous service.
• Respond to customer or associate questions, complaints, and requests professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering, balance on hand, and oversee deliveries in the manager's absence.
• Perform pricing and merchandising tasks, maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Engage in merchandising techniques, promotions, and customer service improvements.
• Follow company programs and policies on dress code, sanitation and safe work environments.
• Provide input on budgets, goals and department results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities to company standards.
• Keep floor and grocery areas clean and sanitary.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements with the team.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workload.
• Perform any duties as assigned.
