Job summary

Kroger in Parker, CO is hiring an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department. You will assist the Department Manager with planning, staffing, training and directing associates to ensure prompt, courteous service to customers.

You’ll use CAO for ordering, manage pricing and display, and ensure proper signage and shelf upkeep. The role emphasizes policy adherence, safety, and operational excellence across budgeting, scheduling and merchandising.

Qualifications

• Able to operate power machinery and tools (power jacks, box cutters, label guns, balers, compactors).
• Grocery retail experience or backup manager experience.
• Dependable and trustworthy work history.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing needs, training, and scheduling associates to ensure prompt, courteous service.
• Respond to customer comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and track receipts and balance on hand in the Department Manager’s absence.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage, rotation, freshness, quantity and space.
• Engage staff in merchandising techniques and promotional activities.
• Implement company programs and policies, ensuring dress code, grooming, sanitation and harassment-free environment.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities safely per policies.
• Keep floor, shelves, and grocery areas clean and sanitary.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements with direct reports.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
• Perform all duties as assigned.
