Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial/statistical information for decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that emphasizes safety.
• Successful completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development, involved in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining department shrink.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure training is completed and staff are thoroughly trained.
• Spend most of the time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.

Serves as the mentor and coach for all team members. Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales while ensuring customer needs are met and service is quick and efficient.
