Job summary

Safeway in Surprise, AZ seeks an experienced leader to assist the Grocery Manager in directing daily department operations. You will supervise staff, manage ordering, receiving, pricing, stocking, and merchandising, while upholding sanitation and safety policies and handling escalated customer issues.

The role requires strong retail and management background, excellent communication, and the ability to train and develop staff; you may step in for Store Director when needed.

Qualifications

• Extensive retail background with management experience.
• Strong knowledge of company policies, procedures and loss prevention.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; leadership and people development.
• Ability to supervise and train associates while handling customer issues.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise grocery department operations and front-end functions.
• Assist in ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, and merchandising.
• Open and close the store; handle cash register operations.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, security policies.
• Address customer complaints and promote customer service.
• Direct and control store operations in absence of Store Director.
