Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to support planning, staffing and directing the Grocery Department, ensuring excellent customer service and safe, compliant operations. This role uses CAO for ordering, coordinates pricing and displays, and collaborates on budgets and goals with the Department Manager.

The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility across shifts, strong communication, and leadership capabilities to guide associates and uphold Kroger's standards

Qualifications

• Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as the work demands.
• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Possess abilities for production, merchandising and customer services related to sale of merchandise.
• Understanding of all key components of department operations (managing people, merchandising, CAO, inventory management, shrink control, customer services, labor scheduling, expense control).
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing needs, and training and scheduling associates to ensure prompt courteous service.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions in a professional manner.
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and track receipts and on-hand balance.
• Perform and direct pricing and display of merchandise with proper signage and rotation.
• Engage and counsel associates in merchandising techniques and customer service activities.
• Follow company programs and policies, maintaining a respectful, safe work environment free of harassment.
