Job summary

Weis Markets is seeking a Grocery Manager to lead the department, ensure product availability, and drive customer satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will supervise associates, manage inventory, and implement merchandising plans while maintaining safety and sanitation standards. The role requires strong people skills and a focus on continuous improvement within the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's in business desirable.
• Minimum 3 years of management experience in retail/supermarket environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all Grocery department operations and may assume total store responsibilities in the absence of store management.
• Promotes excellent customer relations by delivering polite, prompt, and professional service.
• Manages inventory, orders, backroom organization, and shelf replenishment for availability.
• Schedules associates, provides coaching, and evaluates performance; plans overnight workloads if needed.
• Assists with onboarding, participates in annual performance reviews, and uses LMS for training.
• Develops merchandising plans and coordinates across departments for appealing displays.
• Maintains 5S in backroom and receiving areas; ensures sanitation and OSHA compliance.
• Controls department expenses and minimizes shrink through proper product handling and rotation.
• Cooperates with coworkers and supervisors to maintain smooth department and store operations.
• May assist with receiving and storing deliveries and operate power jack or hand jack when trained.
• Ensures proper use of PPE and aids in general safety compliance.
• May assist in other departments as required by business needs.
