Job summary

Mercy Retirement & Care Center in Oakland is seeking a Community Coordinator and Driver to fulfill grocery orders for the Mercy Brown Bag program. You will deliver to 2–5 sites daily, load and unload trucks, and ensure accurate recipient tracking with partner organizations.

You’ll interact with site staff, volunteers, and donors, representing Mercy in a professional manner while upholding safety and food-handling standards. California driver credentials and First Aid training are required.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License and clean record.
• Capable of passing a Class B Driver Education course if required.
• Previous experience as a driver; comfortable with 14 to 20 ft trucks.
• Forklift operation experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety standards in a warehouse environment.
• Strong verbal communication with partners, volunteers, donors and staff.
• Proficient in GPS and routing systems; Bay Area familiarity preferred.
• Basic math skills for portion calculations across sites.
• Background check, drug screen, and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills grocery orders for East Bay Mercy Brown Bag Program in Oakland, serving senior recipients through partner organizations.
• Delivers to 2–5 sites per day, in bulk or at farmers market–style distributions.
• Loads, unloads, and operates 20-foot box trucks and mobile market vehicles.
• Provides excellent customer service; coordinates with site staff and volunteers.
• Maintains recipient tracking and inventory records with site coordinators.
• Promotes Mercy Brown Bag identity and represents the organization professionally.
