Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to fully complete the cashier training program
  • Ability to memorize produce items and sale items
  • Effective communication and reading skills
  • Must be 18 years old

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Customer service experience
  • Retail experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Rotating all merchandise according to code dating policies and checking product quality to ensure freshness; reviewing sell-by dates and taking appropriate action
  • Promoting trust and respect among team members
  • Creating an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold
  • Gaining and maintaining knowledge of products sold and responding to questions and making suggestions about products
  • Greeting, engaging, and assisting customers
  • Informing customers of grocery specials
  • Ordering, labeling, stocking, and inventorying merchandise
  • Reporting product ordering and shipping discrepancies to store management
  • Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understanding the Point of Sale system, and handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • Adhering to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and working to control loss
  • Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks)
  • Collaborating with team members to encourage teamwork
  • Reporting pricing discrepancies to store management
  • Reporting product ordering or shipping discrepancies to store management
  • Displaying a positive attitude
  • Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keeping temperature logs
  • Reinforcing safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
  • Practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents
  • Reporting all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud
  • Adhering to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines

Physical demands include standing up to 100% of the time, lifting an average of 50 lbs., pushing/pulling carts and skids, bending, twisting, squatting, turning, climbing on a ladder or stool, manual dexterity, and repetitive motion. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
