Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies, check product quality, and review sell-by dates to ensure freshness.
- Promote trust and respect among team members.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
- Greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering, shipping, and pricing to management.
- Follow company policies on cash shortages, restricted sale items, and food safety regulations.
- Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
- Notify management of accidents involving customers or employees.
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling carts, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, and repetitive motions.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment, manage conflicts calmly, and act with honesty and integrity.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Ability to complete cashier training.
- Ability to memorize produce and sale items.
- Effective communication and reading skills.
- Must be 18 years old.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience.
- Retail experience.
