Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
- Promote trust and respect among team members.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
- Greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
- Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
- Adhere to company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (e.g., Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Follow all applicable laws and company policies.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Ability to complete cashier training.
- Ability to memorize produce and sale items.
- Effective communication and reading skills.
- Must be 18 years or older.
