Job summary

ShopRite of South Plainfield in New Jersey is seeking a Grocery Clerk to ensure a great customer experience by pricing, stocking and rotating merchandise in the Grocery Department. You will maintain neat, clean and visually appealing displays and perform tasks efficiently and safely.

You will greet customers, answer questions, check prices, stock shelves, and keep the department organized according to store policies. This role requires physical stamina and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak English proficiently.
• Basic math skills required.
• Able to stand/walk for long shifts.
• Able to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 60 lbs occasionally.
• Able to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products without negative allergic consequences.
• Able to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking.
• Interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo’s, power jacks, and slicing machines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Greet Customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Check prices and be knowledgeable about locations of items in store.
• Keep shelves and displays fully stocked and faced at all times.
• Follow safety procedures for opening cartons and proper rotation of product.
• Unload and secure received product in storage areas.
• Perform duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, Efficiency).
• Stand in Grocery Department for the scheduled shift.
