Grocery Clerk (Finance)

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Customer Service skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Retail experience

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  2. Inform customers of specials and recommend products to meet their needs.
  3. Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
  4. Provide customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
  5. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  6. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
  7. Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
  8. Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  9. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
  10. Gain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
  11. Create a welcoming environment, making customers feel valued and appreciated.
  12. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  13. Inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and report repairs.
  14. Notify management of accidents involving customers or employees.
  15. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  16. Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
  17. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  18. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  19. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  20. Perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Salary Range: $17.50 - $22.61
