Responsibilities include:

• Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
• Checking product quality for freshness and reviewing "sell by" dates, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
• Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
• Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping temperature logs.
• Gaining product knowledge and responding to customer questions, making suggestions.
• Creating a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and appreciated.
• Reinforcing safety programs, complying with safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practicing preventive maintenance and notifying management of equipment issues.
• Reporting customer or employee accidents.
