Responsibilities include:
- Informing customers about food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they find what they want and need.
- Checking product quality for freshness and reviewing "sell by" dates, taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
- Reporting product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Staying current with promotional ads and seasonal/special offers.
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
- Gaining product knowledge to respond to customer questions and make suggestions.
- Creating a welcoming environment where customers feel valued by engaging with them about products.
- Reinforcing safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Reporting customer or employee accidents to management.
- Working cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments.
- Managing conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
- Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Following directions and seeking assistance to resolve issues.
- Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
