Grocery Clerk (Sales)

Bring your cheerful, teamwork attitude to our shelves at Uncle Giuseppe's and become a Grocery Clerk today! We have an immediate opening for a Grocery Clerk in our Massapequa store. Come join our team!

Our Grocery Clerks are responsible for monitoring grocery items, providing appropriate labels and price tags, stacking goods on shelves, monitoring inventory, and maintaining shelf life in accordance with policies and regulations, following all NYS, federal, and local laws.

Responsibilities

1. Properly stock retail shelves with products
2. Safely and accurately restock product shelves
3. Ensure products are front-facing and orderly on shelves
4. Interact with customers of diverse backgrounds positively
5. Provide accurate information on the location of items in store
6. Work with team members to ensure shelves are properly stocked
7. Support other store personnel, such as cashiers, during checkout
8. Assist customers with taking groceries to their vehicles, upon request
9. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

1. Must be at least 18 years old
2. Able to safely lift boxes weighing over 30 pounds
3. Physically capable of repetitive hand movements reaching shelves of varying heights
4. Comfortable standing and climbing ladders in small spaces
5. Able to move frequently between sitting and standing positions
6. Excellent customer service skills for diverse populations
7. Attention to detail and ability to locate store products efficiently

Working Conditions

Most time is spent moving on hard surfaces, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects over 30 pounds with assistance. Work environment is typically indoors with moving machinery and loud equipment, possibly requiring shouting to communicate. Exposure to temperature extremes and cleaning agents may occur.
