Grocery Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Inform customers about food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they find what they need.
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
  • Provide customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
  • Stay current with ads, seasonal, and special promotions.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and maintain proper temperature logs in cases and coolers.
  • Develop knowledge of products to answer questions and suggest items.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued and appreciated.
  • Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and report repair needs.
  • Notify management of any accidents involving customers or employees.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts in a reasonable, non-confrontational manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
