Responsibilities include:
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they find what they want and need.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable grocery products.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Develop knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
- Create a welcoming environment, making customers feel valued and appreciated.
- Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when resolving issues.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
