Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk (preferred).
• Experience handling monetary transactions and/or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Arrive at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required training courses and meetings.
• Greet, engage, and assist customers visibly and proactively.
• Process every customer transaction through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently, ensuring that every item is scanned.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons) and checkout procedures per policy.
• Adhere to cash-handling limits and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to Management or Pricing/Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for rewards programs, gift cards, and coupons; stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking.
• Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management of issues.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and informed about products within the department and store.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including stocking and cleaning.
