Job summary

Houchens Food Group is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations. You will supervise sales staff, coordinate schedules, and help drive sales and profitability while maintaining high standards of customer service.

The role requires leadership, adaptability, and strong organizational skills, with a focus on safety, sanitation, and policy compliance. Evening and weekend hours are common to meet store needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong leadership and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage time, schedules and staff effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to inquiries.
• Monitor sales activities to ensure satisfactory service and quality goods.
• Assign employees to specific duties and supervise sales, inventory, and cash handling.
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, promote and terminate store employees as needed.
• Oversee safety, security and sanitation programs in compliance with policy.
• Prepare end of week reports and approve timecards in Paylocity.
• Control store expenses and plan budgets; ensure product ordering prevents stockouts.
• Observe management schedule and ensure open/close procedures are followed.
