Job summary

Machine Sciences seeks a Grob Cell Lead to oversee daily CNC machining operations, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met. This hands-on leader supports operators, optimizes workflows, and communicates between team members and management.

The role focuses on organizing shifts, guiding technical teams, and driving continuous improvement in high-precision manufacturing environments, with emphasis on aerospace/defense-grade parts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably with 5-axis machines.
  • Proven leadership or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Preferred: multi-axis machining (4- or 5-axis); Lean/continuous improvement; aerospace/auto/high-precision manufacturing.

  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department.
  • Enforce safety procedures and guidelines, and housekeeping practices.
  • Organize, plan and prioritize shift workload and activities in the functional area.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other leads to coordinate operations and activities within or between shifts and other functional areas.
  • Identify, recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on technical, systems-, or process-related topics.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Identify training needs and conduct training in equipment operations or safety procedures.
  • Observe technical performance and provide on-the-spot guidance.
  • Run and set up machines as needed.
  • Motivate team members to meet deadlines and productivity goals.
  • Provide input to the supervisor for employee performance reviews.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
  • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Job description

The Grob Cell Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Grob machining cell, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. This role serves as a hands-on leader, supporting operators, optimizing workflows, and acting as a key point of communication between team members and management.

Requirements

Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience

Prior experience in aerospace, automotive, or high-precision manufacturing
