Job summary

Staffmark in Houston, TX is seeking a Grinder to remove cosmetic defects from castings and support production goals. You will operate grinding equipment and use hand and power tools to achieve a smooth finish while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will inspect castings, report defects, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires reading work instructions in English, a high school diploma or GED, and willingness to obtain forklift certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience considered.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal work instructions in English.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous learning through training.
• Willingness to obtain forklift certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinding equipment to remove cosmetic defects from castings before machining operations.
• Visually inspect castings and identify surface imperfections or quality concerns.
• Ensure castings meet quality standards by producing a smooth, defect-free finish.
• Report recurring defects or quality issues to supervisors for corrective actions.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment as trained.
• Maintain machinery, tools, patterns, and equipment in good working condition.
• Support production goals while following quality, safety, and operation procedures.
• Participate in required training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
• Perform additional manufacturing, foundry, and production-related duties as assigned.
