Job summary

Torrance Casting is seeking a hands-on Grinder in Wisconsin to grind, clean, and finish iron castings using a variety of tools. You’ll work independently and as part of a team to meet quality standards on the 2:00 PM–10:00 PM shift.

Responsibilities include operating grinders and machinery, inspecting finished parts, safely moving heavy castings with hoists, recording work activity, and preparing shipments. A safety-focused mindset and reliable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Grind, clean, and finish iron castings using stand, disc, cone, and pencil grinders and other tools.
• Visually inspect castings to ensure quality standards are met.
• Set up, operate, and shut down machinery and equipment.
• Use hoists and equipment to move heavier castings safely.
• Read and follow work orders and process instructions.
• Record work activity using a computer.
• Prepare finished castings for shipment and label boxes.
• Keep work area stocked and maintain a clean, organized space.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Work independently and as part of a team to maintain production flow.

No assembly line here! As a Grinder, your days will fly by as you stay busy using a variety of tools and equipment to grind, clean, and finish iron castings. This is a hands-on, physically active position where you’ll work independently and as part of a team to make sure each casting meets our quality standards.

Work Schedule

• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM (additional shift differential)

What you will do:

• Use stand, disc, cone, and pencil grinders, sanders, buffers, and other tools to deburr and clean iron castings.
• Visually inspect finished castings to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Set up, operate, and shut down machinery and equipment.
• Use hoists and other equipment to safely move and position heavier castings.
• Read and follow work orders and job process instructions.
• Use a computer to record work activity.
• Prepare finished castings for shipment, including assembling boxes, weighing skids, and labeling boxes.
• Keep your workstation stocked with the supplies and tools needed to complete work.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Work independently and as part of a team to keep production moving safely and efficiently.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position that requires continuous standing and walking, along with frequent bending, stooping, turning, and reaching. The position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Hoists are available to assist with moving heavier castings.

High School Diploma or GED required. No prior foundry experience required—we are willing to train the right candidate.
