Job summary

Innomotics in Norwood, OH is seeking a Grinder Operator (2nd Shift) to grind shafts and complete rotors to tight tolerances. The role requires reading blueprints, using micrometers and indicators, and setting up grinding equipment with proper speeds, feeds, and wheel selections.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Able to convert to Standard/Metric systems.
• Experience with Machinist's hand tools and measuring devices (micrometer, indicator).
• Read blueprints, work to close tolerances, and knowledge of speeds and feeds.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must meet all physical job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping and 6S activities adhering to OSHA and Innomotics safety policies.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and Manufacturing Methods.
• Measure and record dimensions using measuring equipment related to processes.
• Follow PPE requirements and safe work practices.
• Set up machine, dress wheel, select feed and speed and make all adjustments.
• Monitor and care for coolant and tooling.
• Use machinists hand tools and measuring devices (micrometer, indicator).
• Work independently with minimal direction from supervisor.
• Notify supervisor of quality, process, or safety issues.

Position Overview

Grinding of shafts and complete rotors to .0001 tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping and 6S activities adhering to all OSHA and Innomotics safety and work practice policies.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and Manufacturing Methods.
• Measure and record dimensions using measuring equipment related to processes.
• Follow appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Make all setups, wheels changes, dressing adjustments, including selection of wheel of proper bond, grit, face width, diameter, etc.
• Set up machine, dress wheel, select feed and speed and make all adjustments including taper.
• Monitor and care for coolant, etc.
• Machinists hand tools, measuring devices such as micrometer, indicator, etc.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal direction from supervisor.
• Perform material handling, and other assigned tasks (hand truck, crane).
• Adhere to all safe work practices and plant rules of conduct.
• Adhere to all outlined section and operational processes and procedures.
• Notify supervisor of quality, process and/or safety issues and concerns.
• Ability to perform job duties of Rotor Maker A classification.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Able to convert to Standard/Metric systems
• Experience with Machinists hand tools, measuring devices such as micrometer, indicator, etc.
• Demonstrate the ability to read blueprints, capable of working to close tolerances, and must have knowledge of speeds and feeds.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Must meet all physical job requirements.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

• 1–3 years of experience running a lathe or grinder
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

The pay range for this position is $33.76. The shift differential for working second shift is $1.00. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
