Job summary

Innomotics LLC in Norwood, OH, is seeking a Manual Lathe Operator for the 2nd shift to join our manufacturing team. You will set up and prove out programs, operate finish lathe and engine lathe equipment, and ensure parts meet print specifications on time.

The role requires experience with lathe machines, micrometers, and precision measurement, with a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read drawings. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience operating and setting up lathe machines.
• Ability to recognize improper machine and tool performance.
• Ability to use micrometers and depth gauges.
• Knowledge of decimal and metric systems.
• Understanding of dimensioning and tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Safe set-up and operation of lathe machines, recording measurements with precision instruments.
• Prove out components created by engineers for accuracy, safety and quality.
• Load predetermined tools and enter tool length offsets.
• Determine tool wear and offsets.
• Interpret drawings and adjust feeds/ speeds for optimal run times.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow OSHA guidelines.
• Conduct daily checks of machines for functionality.
• Record all dimensions of finished parts in labor packets.

Your Future Role

Position Overview

Setup and prove out of programs to safely and accurately machine complex parts to print specifications. Shift Time: (3:30pm to Midnight)

• Operation of finish lathe and engine lathe equipment producing complex components to meet customer requirements and production schedule deadlines
• Responsible for safely loading material into machine, loading and measuring necessary tooling
• The lathe operator produces critical parts for the large 3 phase motors product line and reports directly to the Production Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Safe Set-up and operation of lathe machine, recording measurements using precision instruments, and producing high tolerance components
• Prove out components created by engineer for accuracy, efficiency, safety, and quality
• Loading predetermined tools into machine and enter tool length offsets
• Determine tool wear offsets
• Interpret drawings
• Make feed and speed adjustments to program for optimized run times
• Maintain a clean work area and perform all duties safely in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines
• Conduct daily checks of machine to ensure functionality
• Material handling using cranes and walk behind trucks
• Record all dimensions of completed parts in labor packet

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating and set-up lathe machines
• Ability to recognize improper machine and tool performance
• Ability to use and read micrometers and depth gauges
• Knowledge of decimal and metric system
• Understanding of Dimensioning and Tolerance
• Have a high mechanical aptitude with good math skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Experience operating CNC machines in addition to CNC lathes
• Siemens 840D control experience is a plus
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-driven
• Familiar with Siemens Shopturn/Shopmill conversational programming
• Completion of an accredited machining education program preferred

The pay range for this position is $31.36. The shift differential for working second shift is $1.00. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
