Job summary

Watson Custom Tanks in Wisconsin is hiring a Class B Grinder Operator to grind, finish, and repair welded vessel components to exact cosmetic and quality standards.

You will work on stainless steel tanks, select wheels and feeds, perform surface prep and post-treatment repairs, and ensure traveler documentation is accurate. Monday–Thursday 7am–5:30pm, pay $26-28/hr.

Qualifications

• P.T. Certified professional licence or credential.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Experience maintaining grinding equipment and guards.
• Detail-driven, quality-focused and dependable.
• Professional, respectful communication with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Precision grind head-to-shell seams and blended welds (up to 180 grit / 30 Ra max).
• Remove arc marks, gouges, digs, lumps, and hook marks; restore cosmetic and structural integrity.
• Perform surface prep, seam blending, and post-treatment repairs (including re-dye checks).
• Grind internal/external cylindrical, tapered, flat, conical surfaces; select wheels, speeds, feeds, and fixtures.
• Complete QC documentation (traveler lines), support repair work as needed.
• Work safely with hand tools, lifts/hoists, and in confined spaces; follow PPE procedures.
