Job description

STS Metals is a unified organization composed of five businesses working together to deliver high-quality titanium, stainless and alloy steel and nickel products. We proudly serve the aerospace, medical, industrial, and space industries with a commitment to innovation, manufacturing excellence, and superior customer service.

As a Production Associate supporting grinding operations at Sierra Alloys, you’ll help keep production moving safely and efficiently. This is an entry‑on‑hand role that supports grinders by staging material, removing scrap, and performing basic finishing work to meet quality standards.

You’ll work closely with operators and leads to keep work areas organized, material flowing, and processes running smoothly. Your role is essential to safety, quality, and productivity. This position is ideal for someone looking to get started in manufacturing and build skills over time.

Grinding is a critical finishing step. Production Associates ensure operators can stay focused on precision work by keeping material organized, scrap cleared, and standards maintained—helping prevent delays and rework.

This is physical, repetitive work in an active manufacturing environment that may include extreme heat, noise and dust. You’ll be on your feet, following safety procedures, and expected to maintain consistency and attention to detail every shift.

It’s worth it because this role is a strong starting point. You’ll gain real manufacturing experience, learn how finishing operations work, and have opportunities to cross‑train and grow into operator or skilled trade roles over time. The expectations are clear, the work is honest, and your contribution matters.

The Grinder will work with crew on Forge Team on 2nd shift to make forged bars and blocks.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Must be able to follow lead and directions from crew blacksmith to move material on press to forge.
  • Must be able to read serial numbers and re‑mark parts with the correct serialization in forging environment following simple furnace loading maps.
  • Must be able to drive forklift to move and transport material.
  • Must be able to read calipers and other measuring equipment to determine forged size of material.
  • Must be able to train to learn to move material manually with tongs.
  • Willing to train to drive manipulators for more advanced material movement in and out of furnaces and around press equipment.
  • Willing to train to operate grinding equipment used in grinding forgings and input forging stock material.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Basic (9th grade) math, language, and reading skills.
  • Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly.
Education And Experience
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an on‑site test.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to closely follow instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate, verbally and written, with managers and coworkers.
  • Must maintain quality practices and safety standards.
  • Must be forklift operations and safety certified.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

  • Ability to maintain single‑task focus and situational awareness.
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 50‑pound of both parts and material.
