Job summary

Sloan in Augusta, AR is seeking a Grinder to support our precision grinding operations. You will place finished parts in containers, measure components, read SOPs for specifications, monitor machines for defects, and adjust setups as needed to ensure quality.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, dependability, adaptability, and strict adherence to safety and process procedures. Physical demands include standing, bending, and handling tooling throughout shifts.

• Able to operate and monitor grinding machinery and safety guards.

Responsibilities

• Place finished work in designated containers and dispose of scrap properly.
• Measure parts to verify machine accuracy using gauges or templates.
• Read SOPs to determine product specs and tooling instructions.
• Observe machine operation for defects and adjust as needed.
• Load work and scrap materials into proper containers.
• Ensure grinding guard and tool rests are correctly adjusted.

What you’ll do:

• Place finished work in the designated parts container and dispose of scrap materials in the specified scrap container.
• Measure parts to determine accuracy of machine operation, using rules, templates, or other measuring instruments.
• Read job standard operating procedures to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.
• Observe machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
• Load completed work and scrap materials into containers as specified.
• Check for proper adjustments of grinding guard and tool rests
• Grind or punch castings per the designated Grinding Process Sheet.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
