Job summary

Lee Spring is seeking a full-time Grinding Operator at our Brooklyn facility. You will set up and run grinding machines, ensure parts meet exact specs, and contribute to continuous quality improvements.

You will select tooling and wheels based on material, perform inspections, and maintain machines through routine cleaning and preventive maintenance. Strong attention to safety and reliability is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
• Score of 50 or better on the Bennett Mechanical Aptitude Test or equivalent.
• Previous manufacturing, production, machine operation or similar experience preferred.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate all assigned grinding machines.
• Follow setup cards or operation sheets to meet specifications.
• Select wheels, methods, and tooling per job/material.
• Judiciously choose tooling for varying conditions.
• Dress and change wheels to keep machine performance and finishes.
• Apply judgement in laying out work and setup.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and conformance.
• Teardown machines for cleaning and maintenance.
• Follow maintenance schedules to ensure equipment longevity.

Description

• Proficiently set up and operate all assigned grinding machines.
• Execute tasks based on set up cards or operation sheets, ensuring adherence to specification.
• Select suitable wheels, methods, and tooling based on job requirements and material specifications.
• Exercise judgement in choosing the appropriate tooling to meet varying conditions.
• Dress and change wheels as needed to maintain optimal machine performance and achieve desired finishes.
• Appy judgement in laying out work, setting up machines, and checking the quality of finished products.
• Conduct inspections to ensure work meets specified conditions and quality standards.
• Perform routine teardown of machines, including thorough cleanup and maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to established maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure equipment longevity and reliability.
