Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Locates and moves material using forklift or crane as needed.
  • Grinds parts per specifications using grinders and belt sanders.
  • Counts parts to fill customer orders accurately and records data.
  • Ensures safety policies and PPE usage are followed.

About the Role:

As a Grinder in the manufacturing industry, you will play a critical role in ensuring the precision and quality of metal components used in various products. Your primary focus will be on removing excess material, deburring, and finishing parts to meet exact specifications and blueprints. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain tight tolerances and ensure that all components meet safety and performance standards. You will work closely with CNC machines and hand tools to achieve the desired finish on stainless steel and other metals. Ultimately, your work will contribute directly to the production of high‑quality, reliable products that meet customer and industry requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Ability to perform simple math including addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, as well as lift and move heavier objects with the assistance of cranes, forklifts, or another employee.
  • Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety precautions.
  • Ability and willingness to cooperate with co‑workers and work as part of a production team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience with grinding hand tools.
  • Experience working with steel materials.
  • Knowledge of table saw operation and maintenance.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment focused on metalworking.
Responsibilities:
  • Locates material and if necessary, moves the material to the appropriate area using equipment such as a forklift or overhead crane. Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds of material.
  • Weighs material to determine proper packaging method and to ensure that material will reach the customer destination in a safe and presentable manner.
  • Counts out the number of parts in order to fill the customer’s order accurately.
  • Grinds parts according to customer specifications and company procedures using the hand grinders, belt sander, Dynafile, die grinders, etc.
  • Completes associated paperwork in accordance with company guidelines. Completes the order on the mainframe computer system by wanding the order and accurately entering required information.
  • Prepares shipping tags using the department computer or by completing the tag manually if necessary.
  • Communicates with previous/proceeding shifts as to work in process, priority of work orders to be completed during the next shift and any other pertinent information to ensure the smooth flow of production between shifts.
  • Notifies the supervisor and/or maintenance department when department equipment is not running correctly or when assistance with preventive maintenance is needed.
  • Completes assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices. This includes regard to individual safety, the safety of other employees, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace.
  • Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor, lead person or management.
Working Conditions:

Working conditions may consist of loud noise, vibratory tools, and repetitive motions, airborne particles such as metal dust and chips and exposure to chemicals such as soaps, oils and detergents. Physical requirements include continual standing, walking, lifting, and twisting with periodic bending, climbing, stooping, crawling and crouching.
